We are always running experiments. Showing up at the post office every day is an experiment: will I keep my job? Will I survive this lifestyle? We just might not be consciously running them.
“We’re either running experiments consciously or unconsciously. Everything we’re doing, we are by our nature experimenting.”
The only things that differ with conscious experimentation are: we keep it playful, we make it deliberate, and we take moments to reflect—how is this going? What am I learning? What’s pulling me next? That’s it. We’re just making an unconscious process very conscious.
This reframe removes all the preciousness around “running experiments.” You’re already doing it. You’ve always been doing it. The question is just whether you’re paying attention.
