Art of Accomplishment Knowledge Base
Welcome to a comprehensive, interconnected knowledge base of Joe Hudson’s teachings from the Art of Accomplishment. This site presents hundreds of hours of video content into a navigable web of ideas — each concept linked to related teachings, source videos, and broader themes.
Joe Hudson is a master coach whose work sits at the intersection of self-development, emotional intelligence, and high performance. His teachings draw from ancient contemplative traditions, modern neuroscience, and decades of direct experiential work with leaders at companies like Apple, Google, and OpenAI. Whether he’s coaching someone through a breakthrough on camera or unpacking the mechanics of shame in a podcast episode, Joe’s insights have a way of cutting through intellectual noise to reach something deeper and more immediately useful.
This knowledge base exists because Joe’s body of work is vast — nearly 300 videos spanning coaching sessions, podcast episodes, guest appearances, and standalone lessons — and the ideas within them are deeply interconnected. The Zettelkasten-inspired structure of this site makes those connections visible and navigable, turning the library of Joe’s teachings into a living web of ideas for you to explore.
How to Explore
There are several ways to navigate this knowledge base, depending on how you like to learn:
Browse by Topic
This is the most curated entry point. Each topic page offers a comprehensive summary of Joe’s teachings on that theme, with links to the specific concepts and videos that go deeper.
- Purpose & Meaning — Why purpose isn’t something to find, but something to live
- Presence & Authenticity — The expansiveness of being yourself, without armor
- Emotions & Emotional Processing — How welcoming emotions transforms them into gifts
- Self-Awareness & Self-Discovery — Direct contact with “I am” beyond intellectual analysis
- Relationships & Connection — Building authentic connection from self-awareness
- Shame & Self-Criticism — Moving from self-judgment to self-acceptance
- Anger & Boundaries — Reclaiming healthy anger as clarity and care
- Fear & Anxiety — Feeling fear fully to become more capable, not less
- Leadership & Business — Bringing emotional intelligence to work and decision-making
Browse by Content Type
- Sources — The original source videos, embedded on the page with a summary, list key concepts, and the full transcript. There are almost 300 of these, covering Joe’s entire publicly available catalog.
- Teachings — Almost 1,200 atomic concepts, each capturing a single idea from Joe’s teachings. These are heavily cross-linked, so following one idea naturally leads to related ones.
Explore the Knowledge Graph
Below is an interactive visualization of how the pages in this knowledge base connect together. Each node is a note; each line is a link between them. You can click on any node to navigate to that page, or zoom and pan to explore clusters of related ideas. Each page also has a local graph, showing the pages it is connected to.
Search
Use the search bar to find any concept, quote, or topic across the entire knowledge base. You can also use the short cuts ⌘+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) to open the search bar from anywhere on the site.
About This Project
What is a Zettelkasten?
A Zettelkasten (German for “slip box”) is a knowledge management method developed by sociologist Niklas Luhmann, who used it to produce over 70 books and 400 scholarly articles. The core idea is simple: instead of organizing notes by topic in folders, you write one idea per note and link related notes together. Over time, the links create an emergent structure — clusters of ideas form naturally, and unexpected connections surface between concepts you might never have placed in the same folder.
This project applies a version of that method to Joe Hudson’s teachings, but leverages AI to do most of the concept curation and summarization. Each teaching (literature note) captures a single concept or insight. Each source (reference note) corresponds to a source video. And the links between them create a web of emergent themes and ideas: shame connects to anger, which connects to leadership, which circles back to self-awareness.
Who Built This and Why
This site was built by Zachary Karl Fleischmann as a way of (a) exploring Joe’s work and (b) exploring the use of knowledge graphs. I am a software engineer, writer, and startup founder and a longtime student of Joe Hudson’s work. After going through several Art of Accomplishment courses and consuming most of Joe’s publicly available content, I found myself wanting to explore specific topics and ideas more in depth.
So I built this. Every video from the Art of Accomplishment YouTube channel gets transcribed, summarized, and broken down into atomic concepts. Those concepts are then cross-linked using both manual curation and semantic similarity (via AI embeddings), resulting in over 1,200 interconnected notes. The result is a resource for exploring Joe’s work — one I hope is useful to others on the same path.
This site is one of many “art projects” I’ve been building to explore AI and knowledge graphs. My goal here is to build useful things for myself and others while trying to explore the possible shapes that AI for learning and self-discovery might take. You can read more about that journey on my own personal site.
This is a fan project. All video content belongs to Joe Hudson and the Art of Accomplishment. This site is an educational resource for navigating and studying his publicly available teachings.
About Joe Hudson
Joe Hudson is a master coach who co-founded the Art of Accomplishment with his wife Tara. For seven years, Joe lived on less than $12,000 a year studying dozens of modalities — from ancient spiritual texts to modern neurology to different schools of psychology. He spent thousands of hours running experiments in direct experience.
After that period of deep study, Joe worked in venture capital for thirteen years, managed a philanthropic foundation, and was the largest investor in the first sustainable agriculture IPO on Nasdaq. Throughout, he was finding ways that business itself could be a practice of self-discovery — leading to his radical revelation that ambition and inner work aren’t just compatible, they fuel each other to new heights.
Today, Joe coaches leaders and executives at top companies including Apple, Google, and OpenAI. He coaches the research and compute teams at OpenAI, and as Sam Altman has said: “One of his superpowers is that he deeply understands emotional clarity and how to get there; this will be one of the most critical skills in a post-AGI world.”
“Our work is to teach people how to love themselves.”
