The couples and partnerships that last aren’t the ones that avoid hard conversations—they’re the ones that prioritize truth over temporary comfort. When something feels wrong, they address it despite the consequences, despite whether someone gets upset, despite whether someone might leave.

“It’s more important for you to be in the truth of it than it is to make it good right now.”

This doesn’t mean being cruel or picking fights. It means that when tension exists, you name it. When something bothers you, you say it. When your truth conflicts with keeping the peace, you choose your truth.

The alternative—making it “good right now” at the expense of truth—creates the slow burn of resentment that eventually destroys the very relationship you were trying to protect.
