In an aligned company, the data the board needs is the same data the CEO uses daily. No one wastes days preparing presentations—the information flows naturally because everyone is looking at the same things. When the board needs different data than the CEO uses, something is misaligned.

The same applies internally. When your inner critic (“your board”) sets goals that don’t match what your body, heart, and deeper self actually want, you waste enormous energy creating “presentations” for a voice that isn’t even interested in your real success.

“If a company is aligned, one of the ways to tell is there should be almost no time to create the board deck.”

Aligned internal goals feel effortless to track—you naturally know where you stand because you’re living them. Misaligned goals require constant monitoring, willpower, and guilt.
